Covid-19 Protocols for the clinic location

(These guidelines will and may change over time in response to new information and guidelines).

Patient Responsibilities:

  • Use self-assessment tool before your appointment to decide if it is safe to come; if you have a fever or fail the pre-screening stay home.
  • Please wait in your car until a few mins until your appointment time; this will minimize person to person contacts within our clinic building.
  • If you wish, please bring your own mask. There will be masks available at the office for $2 if you forget.
  • Use hand sanitizer upon entering the office.
  • Ask questions and share your concerns with me so we can ensure you are confident in your care and safety.
  • Sign Covid-19 consent form (this form will need to be updated with every treatment via JaneApp booking program).
  • Where possible, avoid multiple stops prior to your massage so you are only bringing minimal exposures to the office.

Therapist Responsibilities:

  • Call patients the night before treatment to ensure they are aware of new protocols and that they meet the screening that makes treatment safe (only if survey online requires too regarding any “positive” signs and symptoms of COVID-19 exposer).
  • Use self-assessment tooland stay home if I am ill.
  • Assess each patient on entry to the practice, at each appointment. Not commence appointment if screening is negative.
  • Have an Covid-19 specific treatment consent read, understood and signed by each patient prior to treatment
  • Be diligent in my hand hygiene and avoid touching my face or mask.
  • Have easily accessed sanitizing stations in lobby, treatment room and bathroom with alcohol based gel sanitizer (75% alcohol) and/or an alcohol spray (99% alcohol) available for use by myself and patients
  • Use rigorous enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols on all frequently touched surfaces (including electronics), ensure all linens are single use
  • Remove unessential materials to simplify enhanced cleaning
  • Remove extra linens from the treatment space or keep them in a container that allows for disinfection (I am using Rubbermaid totes as they can be wiped clean and have a lid)
  • Keep laundry in a plastic bag and remove daily for laundering
  • Have hands free garbage cans available in all rooms and remove garbage daily
  • Have tissues available for use as a disposable barrier
  • Use cloth mask during treatment to reduce droplet spread
  • Handle all PPE according to BCCDC guidelines in terms of use, cleaning and disposal
  • Use a Health Canadarecognized disinfectant for enhanced cleaning protocols
  • Post information that supports safe behaviours in appropriate places throughout the office
  • Post protocols and related documents to website and social media as well as emailing them to patients
  • Not run errand on the way to work, or during work hours, to keep the number of contacts I bring to the office as low as possible
  • Maintain lower risk behaviours in my life to minimize risk of transmission
